Ahadith on the Fadhilah of people in Madinah
Sa'd RA narrates that Rasulullah SAW said;
no one who intend evil for the people of Madinah except that Allah will melt him in the fire, like the melting of lead or the dissolving of salt in water. (Muslim)
Jabir ibne- Abdullah Radiyallahu Anhuma narrates:
I heard Rasulullah SAW saying: He who frightens the residents of Madinah, frightens me.
(Musnad Ahmad, Majma-uz-Zawaid)
Abdulllah Ibne Umar Radiyallahu Anhuma narrates that Rasulullah SAW said:
He who can die in Madinah let him die there: verily I shall intercede for those who die there (and are buried there)
(Ibnu-Hibban)
Note: The scholar of Islam have explained that this is a special intercession, as Rasulullah's intercession will be generally for all muslims. "Who can die in Madinah let him die there" means he should reside there till his last.
